Man, it sounds so clear and sane when someone else says it—weekly-ish IS a lot, even with the 'ish'! I so appreciate the nudge to trust whatever pace/process needs to unfold here. (And YES, notebook pile people are my kind of people.)
Not a podcast rec, but for the less screen-time yearning, I recently started using the ScreenZen app to not only block my Instagram time but also make me stop and consider thoughtfully if what I’m doing in Instagram “is important” (!) I’m loving it so far! https://apps.apple.com/app/id1541027222
On the podcast front, have you listened to Chat 10 Looks 3? Great two-host format featuring wonderful conversations on culture between two friends who happen to be giants in the worlds of literature, political broadcasting and cookery - all round incredible women!
Ahh this is the first I'm hearing of this podcast but it looks like an absolute DELIGHT. Thank you so much for the rec, Lauren! And if there are any must-listen episodes in your opinion, I'd love to hear 'em.
Ah tricky to recommend any must-listens, so many great ones, but I'd say to listen to some of the usual 30 minute versions before diving into the longer recorded live shows, just so you get chance to know the hosts better and their fun interactions with each other.
The 'summer of culture' episodes usually have a great round up of recommendations, then others might depend on your interests eg their are some episodes dedicated to Helen Garner, Lin Manuel Miranda/Hamilton, and Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool - something for everyone!
I absolutely love that you have a Nat Geo subscription! I'm enjoying hearing your processing - it's all so relatable :)
Thank you Maaike! It's really comforting here, too, to know that other writers connect with some of the stuff I'm wading through.
Weekly-ish can be a lot, Michelle, no matter how much you lean into the "ish." Trust your process!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a notebook pile....

I relate to so much of this! I also want to say that I like this email format; it feels like a nice way to both plant seeds and create spaciousness.
It felt surprisingly fun and free to write, so I love knowing that it landed well from your perspective. Thank you for sharing that!

I am here 👏 for 👏 this level of intentionality and mindless-habit disruption. Thank youuuu!
